Setting, measuring and achieving Australia’s emissions reduction targets

Prepared by DEA members, Drs Genevieve Cowie, Vicki Kotsirilos, Graeme McLeay and Ben Ewald, our submission largely addresses health concerns associated with Australia’s emissions reduction and climate change. The two are interlinked. The priority must be to urgently address fossil fuel
emissions, as this will help reduce carbon dioxide and methane levels in the atmosphere and
consequently abate, mitigate and/or slow the progression of climate change. Reducing fossil fuel
emissions will have an immediate health benefit for the Australian community.
