Port Augusta; the National March and the Alliance Media Launch 12 September

Last year DEA SA released medical data on pollution and ill health in Port Augusta and addressed a community forum in the town.

DEA held a briefing for all members of the SA Parliament and has lobbied a large number of Members of Parliament.

Now with the participation of many other organisations the issue has emerged onto the national consciousness and become a campaign for solar thermal power.  We acknowledge these organisations, and in particular Beyond Zero Emissions.

On September 16 a march of citizens commenced in Port Augusta and will terminate at a rally in Adelaide on September 30.  On September 14, a large display board was unveiled at the entrance to Adelaide and the marchers will walk past it.

The National March for Port Augusta

The issue has snowballed.  Port Augusta has become the national symbol for the replacement of coal power stations with solar thermal with storage.  The message from Port Augusta of pollution, ill health and greenhouse emissions is applicable to all coal burning and particularly to Hazelwood and other dirty stations.

The march has become national – Read this article by Dan Spencer and click on the map to indicate the time of the march in your city.

We ask all DEA members to support a March.   DEA student members- this will be a good time to display the DEA T-shirt!
