Climate Active Program Direction Consultation 2023
December 14, 2023 - DEA does not agree that the proposed updates to the Climate Active Carbon Neutral Standard go far enough to address the concerns of the Australian population regarding climate action by business. Many of the companies previously awarded recognition under the Climate Active scheme design were doing little to reduce emissions, and the scheme was regarded by many as misleading —yet government sanctioned — greenwashing. August 28, 2019 - This Senate Committee on faunal extinction has a very important role because presently it is the only parliamentary voice in a position to make a statement on the interlocking and rapidly progressing climate change and biodiversity emergencies which are the basis for faunal extinctions. The Senate Committee is able to make recommendations for further national action and might consider means by which these national security issues can be developed further. Queensland Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy – Improving resource approval efficiency consultation (October 2018)
October 8, 2018 - All resource development carries potential harms to human health, which is a human right. Yet, “Improving resource approval efficiency consultation” does not include mention of the word “health”. In this submission, DEA makes number of recommendations to improve all aspects of community health for Queenslanders. The concerns expressed by DEA in careful analysis of many resource projects are also apparent in submissions by economists and environmental organisations. These detail a failure to use full cost accounting and to recognise environmental degradation and loss of biodiversity and the need for sustainability.
