A/Professor Chris Leung

A/Professor Chris Leung is a clinician-educator-researcher-advocator.

For the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) he has been on the RACP College Policy and Advocacy Council (CPAC), where Climate Justice, First Nations Health Equity, Population Health Reform are Priority Areas.

For the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), he’s on the GESA Sustainability Network. He was awarded the inaugural 2023 GESA Sustainability Grant, a national competitive research grant in climate action.

At Austin Health, he’s on the Sustainability Steering Committee and Green Theatre Team. He is also Lead of the Medical Education Unit and Chair of the Choosing Wisely Sustainability Working Group. Clinically, he’s a Gastroenterologist and Consultant in General Medicine.

For The University of Melbourne, he is Academic Lead of the MD Research Program at Austin Clinical School.

His other appointments include Past-President of the Australasian Council of Chinese Medical Associations (Auckland, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Victoria) and Past-President of the Australian Chinese Medical Association (Victoria). He has also provided endoscopic training through the World Gastroenterology Organisation and education through the Australian and New Zealand Gastroenterology International Training Association.

For the Doctor’s for the Environment, he is a Board member and on the Sustainable Healthcare Interest Group and the Research, Education and Advocacy Committee.

He is passionate about climate action as well as supporting our trainees so that we can all leave a legacy of health and hope for generations to come.
